A Little Bird, a Bright Flower, and a Love of Nature

There’s something about painting birds and flowers that always makes me happy. This new original painting (#2867) brings all of those things together in one colorful and serene piece

My art has always been known for the high saturation of color I use and bold lines to really bring out the contrast. In this latest original, I love contrast between the bright red flower, the golden-yellow leaves, and the peaceful blue bird. The soft green and peach semi-abstract background adds a certain warmth that I feel when I look at different folk art from over the years

One of my favorite things about this piece is its simplicity. I am not trying to capture nature exactly as it appears outside. Instead, it’s my own interpretation of it — a little exaggerated, a little whimsical, and full of color. I wanted the bird and flower to feel like they belong together, almost as if we’ve caught a quiet moment in a tiny story unfolding among the branches.

When I create original nature-inspired art, I enjoy playing with shapes and colors from the natural world. Birds and flowers are such fun subjects because there are so many ways to interpret them.

Creating a more folk art style painting is a reminder of why I love making art in the first place: the freedom to experiment, follow an idea, and see where the brush takes me.

I hope this little bird and flower painting brings a bit of joy to you today!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at what I’ve been painting lately. It is so important at this time in history to support the arts in any way you can. Whether its my art, someone else's or your own. Let's show the world that creativity is necessary and the arts are one of the most important parts of all of our lives from the begining. I’m always happy to share a little peek into my creative world!
