One of a series of unique, original handmade linocut print titles from Heather's college art studio, Bird Print #17 is a black and white print of a woodpecker perched on a tree.
As a college student at the University of Hawaii, Heather focused primarily on the "lost arts" of intaglio printmaking, silkscreen printing, linocuts, and woodcuts. Heather's artistic foundation in relief printing techniques are central to her iconic style - and these one-of-a-kind pieces capture how it all began!
Each print was made by carefully carving the image out of a piece of linoleum. The raised areas of the linoleum left behind are then coated in ink with a roller (called a brayer) and impressed into paper. The result is a unique piece of original artwork!
